For the first time, there is a lens developed specially for portrait photography that offers different focal lengths for creative image composition. The 35-150 mm F/2.8-4 Di VC OSD (model A043) zoom is developed for portrait photographers who want to work in different portrait situations with just one lens without having to change where they are standing: 85 mm is ideal for classic portrait shots that show the person's head and shoulders, 35 mm allows whole-body shots that also show the environment, and 150 mm is suitable for close-up shots that show facial features in more detail. It’s practical, too: The typical portrait focal lengths are marked on the focal length scale. The lens offers high speed at F/2.8 in wide angle and F/4 in telephoto, which allows a wonderful bokeh effect. The minimum object distance across the whole zoom range is 45cm, which offers lots of new options for composition in the close-up range. The 35-150 mm F/2.8-4 is the first lens in its class to allow portrait photographers endless opportunities to achieve creative compositions in their shots. The optical construction of the 35-150 mm F/2.8-4 Di VC OSD minimises image defects using a special arrangement of LD (Low Dispersion) elements and hybrid aspheric components. Tamron’s BBAR coating (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) contributes to a significant reduction in ghost images and scattered light inside the lens, especially in backlit situations typical in portrait photography. This allows image results with the sharpness and contrast to meet the requirements of DSLR cameras with 50 megapixel sensors and more. Tamron’s many years of expertise in optics shine in the wonderful sharpness gradient, offering professional results with maximum detail reproduction in the area of focus and harmonic background blur (bokeh).

The 35-150 mm F/2.8-4 is equipped with Tamron’s Dual MPU (Micro-Processing Unit), which allows for both quick and even focusing and effective image stabilisation. Because both functions are controlled by their own processor, sharp pictures can be achieved even with quick-moving subjects and in scenes with poor light conditions.

Fluorine coating and weatherproof construction offer optimal protection

The exterior of the front lens has a high-tech coating based on a newly developed fluorine compound with water and oil repellent properties. This ensures that the lens is rugged and long-lived. The lens surface is easier to wipe and less vulnerable to dirt.

A 9-blade diaphragm is configured to retain a smooth, circular-shaped aperture opening even when stopped down by two stops from the wide-open aperture. This produces a smooth-edged bokeh in background light spots and avoids rugged aperture geometry.
